Amniotic fluid embolism (see MCQ6, question 26) is a dreaded complication which may cause collapse in labour or after delivery.
Lack of steroid cover may occur in patients who have had their adrenals suppressed through steroid use.
It is
always worth remembering, albeit rare.
Ergometrine
may cause the blood pressure to rise, but does not cause collapse.
